Summer 2015 - first photo shoot!

We had my awesome coworker, Sara, take pictures of Lucas and the family a few weeks ago when Lucas was only two and a half weeks old.  I really wanted to document these first few weeks at home with Lucas since this is such a special time for us.  She did such an awesome job - I feel that she captured our feelings and expressions so well.  As you can tell from the pictures, Ryan is SUCH A GREAT BIG BROTHER!!  He really is so gentle, so caring, so involved with Lucas.  I love that this is their start to a (hopefully) beautiful relationship!

Here are some of my favorite pictures (it was hard to narrow them down, I promise!) :)

Summer 2015 - most of July

My big plans to keep this blog updated during the first month post-baby flopped big time.  Hopefully when I get into more of a routine, I'll be able to update more!

Lucas is almost a month old!  HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?  These past two weeks since I last updated have flown by!  Here's what we've done:

Since Joe is still off of work (thank God!), we've been trying to do lots of fun things with Ryan while we adjust to new schedules and stuff.  We've taken two trips to Frankie's Fun Park, where Ryan's had A BLAST playing in the Fun House and riding the go-karts with Joe:

Overall, Frankie's Fun Park was a huge hit with Ryan - so definitely something we will hit up again this summer!

We also have taken Ryan to the library a couple of times - and he's rekindled his love for reading and for books - his favorite books so far are Curious George, Berenstain Bears, and Arthur books.  We also took him to story time, which was far more interactive than I thought it was going to be - Ryan really liked the puppets at the end, but didn't like the dancing part too much.  Either way, the library is another winner for Ryan!

Ryan's also spent a lot of time at Oma's house, which is definitely a winner in his book.  He got to make pizza with Oma, play with Nadia/Julien/Levi, bounce on the trampoline - really, whatever he wants to do over there (which is one of the reasons why he loves going to Oma and Opa's house so much).

Ryan also had his first sleepover EVER!  Such a big moment for him!!  Ryan was invited to go over to Levi and Julien's house and all the boys went to the Mordecai for some music, and then Ryan spent the night at Levi and Julien's house!  He had SO MUCH FUN - and he said that his favorite part was sleeping in Levi's bed.  He wasn't very happy when Joe and I came to pick him up the next morning because he wanted to stay there.  He's been asking to go back to sleep at Uncle Paul and Aunt Jan's house ever since, too!

Ryan has been so so sweet with Lucas - he's so gentle and so loving toward him.  He still comes and checks on Lucas and me first thing in the morning.  One morning, I heard a loud commotion and I looked and Ryan was trying to bring the Rock N Play upstairs for Lucas because Lucas likes it.  SO SWEET!  Ryan loves his little brother so so much and that tugs at my heart!

Lucas has been great for his first few weeks at home.  He's beginning to get the hang of nighttime sleep (he gave me 5 straight hours last night!!) and still sleeps a ton in comparison to his older brother.  We had pictures taken of our new family of four last week and they turned out SO WELL - granted, the subjects were great but our photographer is incredible (Thanks, Sara!) :)  I'll post some of those soon!

Summer 2015 - Adjusting and bonding

June 28th, 2015 - July 9th, 2015

Since Lucas was born, we've spent a lot of time at home, getting to know the newest member of our little family and adjusting to life with a baby again.  Ryan's been very very helpful and wants to give Lucas lots of hugs and kisses.  Joe's been off work and it's like we're all on vacation....except staying at home....and not doing any fun adventures....so maybe it's not at all like we're on vacation, but it's nice to have this time at home while we figure out our new roles and how to balance our time with two kids.  Ryan's had some playdates with his cousins and spent some time at Oma's house (especially on the days when the night before has been a little rough) and Joe's taken him on a couple of outings during the day (Marbles, watching fireworks, to the pool, to Lowe's, to Duck Donuts, etc).  We even ventured out of the house one night last week and went out to dinner (I was definitely on edge that Lucas would catch Ebola or something).  For the most part, we've kept visitors at bay so that we all have time to recover, adjust, and establish a new norm - it's been quiet but it's also been really nice!

Here are some pictures from the past two weeks that I've been meaning to upload - it's crazy to believe that Lucas is 11 days old and that two weeks ago from today, he was still in my belly!
